GILES WATERFIELD

24 July 1949 - 5 November 2016

 

Giles Waterfield was Director of the Dulwich Picture Gallery from 1979-1996, Director of Royal Collection Studies (operated by the Attingham Trust) and Associate Lecturer at the Courtauld Institute of Art, in addition to lecturing at the Univeristy of Notre Dame and Arcadia University.

 

A memorial service was held on 11 January 2017 at St Martin-in-the-Fields, Trafalgar Square, London.

 

THE GILES WATERFIELD MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

 

Giles, as Director and tutor, treasured his close association with The Attingham Trust, an educational charitable trust for the study of historic houses and collections.

 

In recognition of his dedication over thirty-five years, the Giles Waterfield Attingham Memorial Scholarship is being founded to enable a museum curator or similar professional to attend one of its courses.
